Mid Coast Hospital announced its first baby of 2021. August Orion Monsen was born at 5:23 a.m. on January 1, 2021 to Chloe Monsen and Kellen Bonnar of Dresden, Maine.

Mid Coast Hospital Administers First Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine to Front-Line Caregivers
Mid Coast Hospital administered the first vaccinations for COVID-19 to its front-line caregivers today. At 7:30 a.m. Paul LaPrad, MD, became the first care team member at Mid Coast Hospital to receive the vaccine. LaPrad has been a pulmonologist in the community for 25 years, and has been caring for COVID-19 patients at Mid Coast Hospital since March.

Storm Update, Thursday, December 17: Delayed Openings
Storm Update, Thursday, December 17: Due to the forecasted winter storm, Mid Coast Medical Group practices, Mid Coast Hospital Rehabilitation, and the Topsham and Bath Laboratory Service Centers will be opening at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 17. The Mid Coast Hospital COVID-19 Testing Site will open at 1 p.m. All other services and procedures will proceed as scheduled.

COVID-19 Update, December 4: Visitor Restrictions in Response to COVID-19 Resurgence
In response to the increase in community spread of COVID-19, Mid Coast Hospital is limiting visitors beginning Friday, December 4. These visitor restrictions are being made to protect the health and safety of patients and employees of Mid Coast Hospital. They apply to all hospital, medical practices, Walk-In Clinic and Emergency Department locations.

COVID-19 Update: Staying Healthy
As expected with the return of colder weather, we’ve begun to see a resurgence in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations statewide. At Mid Coast–Parkview Health, we have been planning for additional surges in COVID-19 for several weeks. Mid Coast Hospital continues to care for patients in separate treatment areas and has dedicated care teams for patients with symptoms of COVID-19. This allows for non-COVID-19 inpatient and outpatient care to take place in non-COVID-19 areas.

Mid Coast Hospital Recognized for Tobacco-Free Achievements
The annual Gold Star Standards of Excellence Hospital and Healthcare Organization Program Awardees have been announced for 2020. Mid Coast Hospital was recognized for meeting Platinum through the 2020 Gold Star Standards of Excellence program for efforts to prohibit smoking and tobacco use on campus and addressing client tobacco use. This was the ninth year Mid Coast Hospital has participated in the initiative.
