Mid Coast Medical Laboratory Celebrates Excellence in Patient Care
The Clinical Laboratory at Mid Coast Hospital is celebrating Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 20 to 26, 2014. The week long national celebration honors those who work in laboratory medicine and their contributions to patient care.
"The laboratory professionals at Mid Coast are key members of our patients’ healthcare team. Our staff performs and interprets an average of 800,000 laboratory tests annually that are essential in correctly detecting, diagnosing, and helping prevent diseases," said Sue Ross, MT (HEW), Director of Laboratory Services at Mid Coast.
The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has once again awarded accreditation to the Mid Coast Hospital Clinical Laboratory based on results of a recent on-site inspection. The accreditation process includes thorough review of the laboratory’s records, processes, and quality control procedures, as well as competency and education of the staff and management.
"The CAP Accreditation Program is recognized by the federal government as more stringent than the government’s own inspection program," said Ross. "Adhering to these highest quality standards requires a dedication and commitment by our team to deliver the best care possible to our patients."
