Alexis Nolan, RN, CNM, has joined the Obstetrics and Gynecology team of Mid Coast Medical Group – Women’s Health Care. She joins the midwifery team of Angela Ripley, CNM, and Suzanne Zimmerman, CNM, offering full-scope midwifery and 24-hour-a-day coverage at Mid Coast Hospital’s Maternity Care Center.
Working in concert with doctors and nurse practitioners, the three midwives offer preconception counseling; deliver well-women care at any age including annual gynecological care and pap smears; and provide personalized prenatal care, supported childbirth, and postpartum care.
Prenatal care is provided one-on-one and is also offered in a group program known as CenteringPregnancy®, an evidenced-based model of care that integrates basic prenatal health assessment and education with social support.
"We are so grateful to have Alexis join us as we prepare to expand the Midwifery program to offer more centering classes and education for families,” said Zimmerman. "Our focus is on providing a healthy and warm environment for families to welcome their babies, while providing high quality compassionate care.”
Nolan obtained her bachelor of nursing from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and a Master’s of Science in Nursing with a Nurse-Midwifery Concentration from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She has been a labor and delivery nurse for almost ten years and became certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives in 2010. She is bilingual, speaking both English and French.
Nolan commented, "I am honored to join such a committed team of providers. It’s inspiring to see how much the midwifery practice has grown and established such deep connections with so many families in Midcoast Maine.”
