Mid Coast Hospital's Community Health Improvement Director
honored as founding chairperson of Sagadahoc Board of Health
Marla Davis is praised by the Legislature for her commitment to the health of the people of Maine

Marla Davis, RN, MSN, Mid Coast Hospital's Director of Community Health Improvement, has been recognized by the Sagadahoc Board of Health for her leadership in the creation of the Board of Health and her support of local public health activities.

Sagadahoc County Commissioner Max Dawson gave Davis an inscribed crystal award at the board's September 10 meeting to commemorate her tenure. Marla served as the first chairperson of the board since it was established in 2006. Steven J.Trockman, MPH, of Topsham has been appointed to succeed Davis as the chairperson.

State Senator Seth A. Goodall (D-Sagadahoc) was also on hand and presented Davis with a joint proclamation of the 124th Legislature praising her "commitment to the health of the people of the State. " It also notes her role on the Statewide Coordinating Council for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The expression of legislative sentiment was sponsored by Goodall and Representative Peter S. Kent (D-Woolwich).

"It is so wonderful to see this recognition of Marla for her leadership efforts in improving the health of the community," said Mid Coast Health Services Executive Vice President Lois N. Skillings. "She is such a tireless and effective advocate for public health. We are proud and fortunate to have her as a colleague."

The Sagadahoc County Board of Health works collaboratively with ACCESS Health, Mid Coast Hospital, and many other partner organizations to take action on local health issues.
