Mid Coast Hospital’s Marla Davis honored for founding
and facilitating Parkinson’s Disease support group

Marla Davis, RN, MSN, Community Health Improvement Director at Mid Coast Hospital, has been recognized for her commitment to providing support to individuals and their care partners living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Davis was the special guest at the annual potluck luncheon of the Mid Coast Hospital Parkinson’s Disease Support Group held to welcome new members and reunite long-time members.

The group’s founder and facilitator from 1993 until 2008, Davis was surprised by Lillian Scenna, LSW, Coordinator of MaineHealth’s Parkinson’s Disease Information and Referral Center, with an inscribed plaque acknowledging her contribution and years of dedication.

“When I was first hired at the center, I looked around for who was already doing something in the state,” said Scenna. “That’s when I found Marla, who already had a support group going here at Mid Coast Hospital.”

Davis’ commitment to the group was evident in the overwhelming appreciation expressed by long-time members. In accepting the recognition, Davis said “I couldn't have done this without the support of my husband, C.R. His support allows for me to do what I need and love to do.”

The Mid Coast Hospital Parkinson’s Disease Support Group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month in Café Conference Rooms 1&2 from 1:30-3 p.m. The group is facilitated by Jessica Loney, RN, MSN.
