Need Health Information? Ask Mid Coast Hospital's Librarian!

Mid Coast Hospital has a new community service called Ask the Librarian. Health Science Librarian Cynthia Arnold is now available on Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. to assist community members who seek up-to-date and accurate information concerning illnesses, diagnoses, and treatment, as well as prevention and wellness topics.

This free service is offered on a walk-in basis in the Community Resource Room, which is off the main corridor near the hospital's new Emergency Department. For those who are interested in the service but unable to come to the hospital, please call Cynthia at (207) 373-6571 Tuesday through Thursday.

Cynthia is a highly experienced health reference librarian with a Master's degree in Library Science. "There is so much information on the web," Cynthia said. "It is hard to always know what is credible."

This new program is offered by Mid Coast Hospital's Community Health Improvement Department, and can also link people to community health education services. "Mid Coast Hospital's Health Sciences Library exists to provide research and educational information on health issues-whether you are a patient, the patient's family, staff, or the general public," said Marla Davis, RN, nurse director of the hospital's Community Health Improvement efforts.
