Frequently Asked Questions
What does my Mid Coast Hospital bill cover?
Your Mid Coast Hospital bill covers things such as room and board, nursing, meals and certain supplies used during the course of your stay. It does not include the charges from any other physicians involved in your care. Below is a list of our clinical partners and phone numbers for their Billing Offices:
- Bluewater Emergency Room Physicians: 1-855-691-9890
- Radiology Consultants of Maine: 1-877-845-1944
- Spectrum Medical Group, Anesthesia and Pathology: 1-800-213-8382
What does my Mid Coast Medical Group bill cover?
Mid Hospital is pleased to be home to many primary care and specialty practices in Midcoast Maine. Your bill from Mid Coast Medical Group covers professional services for any one of our providers you see. On the back page of your statement, the name of your Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other medical professional is listed.
Important message for Medicare Beneficiaries
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has designated all of our Mid Coast Medical Group offices as “Departments of Mid Coast Hospital”.
As such, this may result in a facility charge as well as a professional or physician charge for outpatient services and/or procedures. These charges will be reflected on the patient statement you receive for services provided. You will receive one bill from Mid Coast Hospital and one bill from Mid Coast Medical Group for your one doctor’s office visit. The total charge is no higher than that charged to any other patient.
Mid Coast Hospital is not unique in this regard as this is the case in many healthcare systems across the country.
Why did I receive a bill?
You may receive a bill for a variety of reasons. For example:
- You may not have health insurance, or we may not have your current insurance information on file.
- The service you received may not be covered by your insurance.
- You may have a copayment, coinsurance or deductible that you did not pay at your visit.
- You may not have obtained a required referral from your doctor.
- You may have received care outside your provider network.
- You may have claimed all your insurance benefits for a particular visit or calendar year. (Some health insurance companies limit coverage.)
